If it is either defective or if a shock absorber is used that does not correspond with the way of riding, this can lead to nasty surprises. Shock absorbers that are too soft can break easily or give you the fright of your life in curves or at high speeds. A brand new shock absorber isn’t always necessary. If the shocks are still working perfectly well, replacing the shock absorber springs (that gradually wear out over the years) is sufficient.
