Nowadays car tuners have a wide range of modern retro-fit
LED headlights
to choose from. If you wish to upgrade your two-wheeler however, the choice is greatly reduced. We have managed to assemble an adequate range of LED headlights with various diameters. With a little modification they can all be adapted to fit almost all common Vespa and Lambretta models.

The type with 130mm diameter lens lies in the middle of the sizes we have available in this range and provides an excellent basis to convert and upgrade scooters equipped with circular headlights, such as the Vespa GTR/TS/Sprint and Rally. For plug and play mounting on these models we have CNC machined lamenrings in the program.

For mounting on other vehicles it may be necessary to remove holders attached to the reflectors should first be removed with an appropriate tool and more a suitable type fabricated. There are a wide choice of options available to achieve a method of holding the new headlight in position. Sometimes the original can be adapted, otherwise a suitable bracket might be available for purchase. Some owners permanently affix the LED headlights main body in place with the use of a glue-gun, some surround it with an adhesive foam cushion material, others construct sophisticated surrounding brackets for the lights housing to be firmly bolted into…

The minimal constructional effort involved soon pays off, as the comparative amount of light created by the new LED headlight is worlds apart from the original types performance, some still only operating with a measly 6V. Another practical advantage is the less power they require from the stator plate, the more is available for other electrical components. AC based electrical systems can cause the LED lamps to flicker therefore we recommend the conversion to a DC system and/or the inclusion of a battery.

Conclusion
: Be the first in your club to exploit the obvious advantages of a LED headlight in your vintage scooter! A high-tech appearance and increased safety during the darker hours are undeniable arguments.
