This HPI (universal) ignition was designed as a weight saver. The flywheel is just 320 gr. light and has an outer circumference of only 71.5mm. These values ensure a high potential for extra performance, as the motor has less permanent mass to set in motion. It must be mentioned however that such a lightweight ignition set-up provides the motor with a very aggressive throttle response. The coils 60W of power is perfectly adequate to power front & rear lighting, as well as the charging of a battery, if included. This ignition is provided with two pre-programmed ignition curves that can be adjusted with the use of the plug connector or a separately available switching device. Both are adjusted by 25 degrees every 1000 rpm by 2.5 degrees. They differ with the retard adjustment from the initial rpm value. The HPI ignition has no locating groove for a woodruff key but remains simple to install with full instructions in English included. The plug connections are of a high and lasting quality. Helpful hint: the ignition doesn??t work very well with electric starter components. Better use the kickstart for starting your scooter.
Conclusion: An ideal ignition system for both road and race use and excellent value for money!
This flywheel requires a 27x1mm remover tool (#BU5250) with a left-handed thread.
